I am slightly confused on the early origin of Clann Lamont. That there are two possibilities that I have found so far,one being the Clan were Viking descendants and the other being they were of Irish ancestry through the O,Niell clans who according to Margaret Westacott, a people who originated in Lebanon and Egypt. The legend that three brothers took an Egyptian princess to the Emerald Isles and thus found the family in that land as opposed to the vikings who settled on the shore of Ireland and began their occupation.Eremon.Heber and another brother are the three Lebanese who ,as legend has it,were kicked out of their Lebanon due to their unruly conduct and thus sought greener fields beyond the high seas. They were also asked to leave Egypt and then finally settled in the Irish land.No doubt such vast expanses of time can have distorting effects on data the present opinion for me is one of two choices,ie they were Vikings or they were Lebanese/Egyptian.
PS My connection is with my grandmother Mary Anne Wilson who was a descendant of John Lamont and she lived in Sydney Australia.
