Hi my name is Debi Hall my grandmother is Elspeth Robertson (maiden name Espie) her mother was Ann gladstone Lamont and her mother Elizabeth Lamont (Fraser) so it is her husband and ann's father who was DONALD LAMONT who was born in salen mull and whose father duncan and his father donald lamont all from mull mostly Salen, torosay and grubin on Isle of Mull. I would like to go back further but i find it gets more difficult trying to go past the 1770′s as the paperwork becomes more illegible and harder to connect as you cant find facts that link them marriages ect.

Hello,
I am writing to enquire about becoming a member of the clan and info about fulfilling the requirements. My connection to the clan would be within three generations, my great grandmother's family were Turner by surname. Any help you could give would be appreciated.
Thank you,
David Price.

We Broun's and Brown's have never been a sept of any other clan. But not much has been done about until recently.

I am the 30th Chief of Broun Brown and 14th Baronet of Broun of Colstoun.

Please remove our names from your list of septs....Where you got that from, I have no idea as it is easy to work it out from 1070.

Sir Wayne Broun
Chief.

Hi

I've just been looking at Wikipedia - and also the DNA website under Lamont/McLeod - and the history of the Clan Lamont makes very interesting reading !

I have an ancestor named Norman Lamont McLeod who came to Melbourne in 1851 aged around 17.

He set up business in King Street, Melbourne. His parents were William McLeod, a cooper in Dumbarton, and his mother was born Jeanett McDougale. Whether they travelled with their son to Australia or not I'm not sure. A death notice was published in 1900.

I'm assuming because of his middle name he had a Lamont ancestor, and although I've found promising leads on that DNA/Lamont site, I haven't struck gold yet.

Can you help me ?

All The Best..
(PS- The McLeod side is stumping me too - - No relevant William and Jeanett McLeods to be found in Scotland either)

i know the old clan chief moved to australia back in the old days but why is it based in australia, would it not be more fitting to be based in scotland even tho i know first hand that the weather is not as good as australia as ive done a few exercises with the british army in scotland.

im just intrested as ive just found this site whilst looking for lamont tartan and lamont logo's as i plan to tattoo one on me eventually, im currently living in northern ireland.

Dear Sirs,
I am currently working on the Lamont side of our family history. My 2G x grandmother was born in Blair Athol in 1816 Margaret Jean Lamont and married a Peter McDougall - Blacksmith from Fortingall. They came to South Australia on the Buckinghamshire in 1839 with her brother Peter Lamont and family. I am therefore direct line descendent of the Lamont family. I understand that her father was Peter Lamont (1770) and he married Jean Stewart. I also have McLean, McNaughton and several other clans within the blood line. What I am trying to find out is the situation in Scotland in the 1830's that forced my ancestors to migrate. We are planning a trip to Scotland next year and plan to visit as many villages of my 2G grandparents as possible - so far my wife and I have 28 to visit so we are going to be very busy. I would appreciate if you have any information of the situation in Blair Athol and any recommendations as to where we could visit or if you have access to information that helps with the tracing of this side of the family.
Thank you for your assistance
Regards
Roger Powell
